As soon as the equipped athletes were done, the classic athletes claimed the platform as their own and began an epic seven day competition out in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

In the sub-junior 53kg class, Giorgi Gelashvili GEO claimed victory ahead of an exciting three way deadlift battle for the remaining podium places.   Kohei Hoshino JPN had a tense time in the sub-junior 59s after missing his second deadlift and letting Wei-Chen Huang TPE come past.  Hoshino nailed his final pull though and emerged victorious.

Second generation IPF powerlifter, Tiffany Pilnikova GBR, collected a gold medal in every discipline on her way to the sub-junior 43kg world title and Sara Ciaravino ITA stormed to victory in the junior 43s, breaking the junior total world record with 315kg.

Paula Calero Bano ESP didn't have her best day in the sub-junior 47kg class but it was still enough to secure her first world championship win.  In the junior 47s, Marta Scuderi ITA was a fair way ahead and picked up her first world title pretty comfortably, despite giving us a fright on bench, only managing a successful attempt on her third try.

Newcomer Killian Valette FRA took all the gold medals in the junior 53s against the equipped world champion, Andrei Georgescu ROM.  In the junior 59kg class, Ivan Campano Diaz ESP took his first world title, despite struggling on deadlift.

The sub-junior 52kg and 57kg classes closed out the day and there were tense moments in the 52s when one of the favourites, Jessica Haggerty USA, took three attempts to get a squat on the board.  Elisa Misiano ITA took a 138.5kg squat for a new junior world record in the same class but once Haggerty got going, there was no catching her.   Sherine Hussain BRN will be taking home the sub-junior deadlift record in this class too with 156.5kg.

The 57s were even more dramatic with the deadlift world record being thrown around by three different lifters in an exciting deadlift battle.  Abigail Hanrahan-Miller CAN and Eleni Guerrera USA both got their names on the record briefly but, in the end, it went home with the winner, Chloe Tang SGP, who also took the sub-junior total record into the bargain.
