Day 4 of the of the combined Sub-junior, Juniors and Masters World Championships saw a packed day of lifting.
In the first session we had the sub-junior and junior 83kg and 93kg classes. Iraq’s Hussein Mohan overcame Valentyn Muntian’s substantial sub-total lead with a huge 260kg deadlift in the sub-junior 82kg class. Dmytro Rozhanskyi of Ukraine struggled a little with squats, only getting his second attempt, but still managed to hold off team mate Illia Kuchma in an exciting finish.
Daniyar Shaukatov of Kazhakstan attempted a junior and open world record bench press of 293kg but it wasn’t quite there on the day and Russia’s Evgenii Stepanov took the title in the 83kg juniors. In the 93kg juniors, Moises Villon from Ecuador squatted an impressive 370kg and was unassailable overall despite Czech lifter Ondrej Sip’s 285kg deadlift.
