IPF World Equipped Juniors & Masters 2021 - M1 heavyweight men

We had an exciting start to Day 6 of the Sub-junior, Junior and Masters World Powerlifting Championships in Romania.
In the M1 105kg class, team mates from Ukraine jockeyed for position all the way down the line. Volodymyr Rozhanskyi pulled out a 20kg lead on squat with 325kg but Petro Olar responded with a huge 232.5kg bench press and was 10kg ahead at sub-total. Rozhansky missed his second deadlift of 280kg but came back strong and pulled 290kg to snatch victory by 2.5kg.
Sorin Cazacu of Romania pulled out a huge lead a 320kg squat and could not be caught for the overall gold with a 797.5kg total. Canada’s Jim Derkson made a spirited attempt at a 302.5kg deadlift to take second place from Poland’s Eryk Walczak but couldn’t quite finish it off.
Czech team mates Jan Pinc and Jaroslav Soukal battled back and forth in the 120+kg class but Pinc could not overcome Soukal’s lead in the end.
