It was the turn of the Masters 1 ladies on Day 5 of the combined Sub-junior, Junior and Masters World Championships.
Canada’s Danielle Hussey lifted well in the 57s in her first competition outside North America. Unfortunately, Kathleen Compagnie of Belgium failed to make a successful bench press and handed the 63kg world title to Italy’s Michela Gubernati. Danuta Golubiewska of Poland followed up her European Masters Championship win last month with the world title and Aleksandra Iudintseva became M1 World Champion in her first international 3-lift competition.
Star of the show though was Kathrine Bak of Denmark in the 69k class. She lifted in the open class 3 weeks ago at the European Championships and set an open world record in deadlift at 232.5kg. Today she extended that record with a phenomenal pull of 233kg. To be setting open class world records as a masters lifter is something very special and she gave us a very excited finish to the session.
