IPF World Classic 2021 - 63kg class

It’s no surprise to anyone that Prescillia Bavoil of France ran away with the 63kg class but I wonder if anyone could have predicted just how successful she would be.

Lya opened on a world record squat of 195kg and then pushed it up to 205kg, missing 210kg for her third. Deadlift world records of 225kg and then 230.5kg cemented a historic world record total of 548kg that exceeded the total world records in the two weight classes above. She achieved 120.07 GL points, a score only ever exceeded by one other woman in the IPF, Amanda Lawrence.
There was a close run battle for second place between Slovakia’s Ivana Horna and a much improved Iris Scholten of the Netherlands. Ivana’s lifts looked tough however while Iris looked comfortable throughout and went 9 for 9 with PBs in every discipline – no mean feat at this level. Ivana pulled for second but couldn’t get it moving and Iris won out by only 2.5kg.
Special mention to Emma Arusyak Badalyan of Denmark for squat bronze, Signe Belden of Norway for bench gold and GB’s Sabrina Moore for deadlift bronze.
