IPF World Equipped - Superheavyweight Women

The 84kg class will lift in the Prime Time session on Saturday 18th November at the World Equipped Championships in Lithuania.  The whole session will be broadcast live on Eurosport 2 and Eurosport Asia.  Let's take a look at the nominations:

1  Rhaea Stinn CAN - 683kg
2  Anna Sørlie Heranger NOR - 652.5kg
3  Ankie Timmers NED - 650kg

Rhaea Stinn is one of the top benchers in the IPF - only Hildeborg Jugdal has pressed more in a 3-lift competition.  She has won three back to back world titles since moving up to the 84s and won gold at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama.  She's been adding weight to the bench press world record since 2019 and she nudged it up to an astonishing 228kg at last year's world champs.  She is undoubtedly the hot favourite in this class.

It's looking like a close battle just behind though with Anna Heranger and Ankie Timmers nominated within 2.5kg of each other.  Heranger came out on top at the Europeans this year by a scant 2.5kg but Timmers won out at last year's World Games so we are very much looking forward to this rematch.

The 84+kg class will lift on the final day of competition - Saturday 19th November.  Here are the top nominations:

1  Sóley Margrét Jónsdóttir ISL - 675kg
2  Valentyna Zahoruiko UKR - 620kg
3  Heidi Hille Arnesen NOR - 612.5kg

The top three nominations in this class reflect the 2nd - 4th places at last year's Worlds - with the 2022 world champion, Hildeborg Hugdal not lifting at this one, will everyone slide up a place?

Sóley Jónsdóttir is a young lifter who has rapidly climbed the ranks in the open category.  Still a junior, she has a good shot at her first open world title.   She still has the opportunity to take a swing at the junior squat world record if she's having a good day— her best squat in competition is only 10kg away.

Winning is the first consideration over records though and Valentyna Zahoruiko will be bringing a fierce challenge.  She has been making great strides and picked up her first overall medal at last year's competition.  She is well placed to improve on that this year.

Right behind is Heidi Arnesen.  Holder of ALL the 84kg M2 equipped world records, she is a light super, having been competing in the 84s earlier this year.  She has many years of equipped lifting under her belt; valuable experience in this tricky discipline.
