The
first session starts at 8am GMT and will be a mixed bag of M2s and M3s.
Grant Sugarman leads the nominations in the M3 83kg class by some distance. He took the silver at the Euros last year but looks like he will take his first international title this year.
In
the M2 66kg class, we have long-time rivals Greig Murray and Bernie McGurk,
both nominated on 535kg. Bernie is the
current equipped world champion in this class, but Greig is the classic world
champ. It’s hard to chase two rabbits and Bernie does
split his time between classic and equipped but the two of them look closely matched
and the real winner here will be the fans as this one looks like it will go
down to the wire.
The
second session of the day will begin at 12 noon and we have Arthur Cowley in a
very competitive M3 105kg class. Arthur
took the overall silver last year and looks to be in the fight for squat and
deadlift medals this year too.
The
final session starts at 3.30pm GMT and right at the top of the nominations we
have legendary Welshman Phil Richard. Primarily an equipped lifter with many world
titles and world records to his name, he looks set to bring his first classic
European title back to sunny Wales.
Chris
Lynn in the M2 105s completes the British line up for Day 3. Chris has only been competing for a couple of
year and this will be his first international.
Nominated in 5th place
in a stacked class, he looks well placed to challenge for single lift medals
and maybe more.
Good
luck chaps!
Greig Vs Bernie will be spectacular!
